National Programme for Prevention & Control of Fluorosis

General Objective: To Prevent and Control of Fluorosis among the population affected as well population of unaffected areas.

Specific objective:

  • To do the survey and find out the Fluorosis affected population.
  • To analysis the water quality for Fluorosis controls.
  • To analysis the urine sample.
  • To find and the new sources of drinking water with lower fluoride control (0.5 to 0.8mg/L).
  • To provide micronutrient – vitamin B and Calcium.
  • To correct disabilities of affected people by surgical intervention.
  • To import health education.

NPPCF Implemented Districts

The National Programme for Prevention and Control of Fluorosis is implemented in three districts of Assam.

  • Nagaon
  • Karbi-Anglong
  • Kamrup(Rural)

4 nos. of new districts are proposed in PIP 2017-18.(Golaghat, Dhubri, Hailakandi & Nalbari).

Activities:

  • Pamphlets distributed 8241 nos., Posters distributed 166 nos., Seminer- 10 nos., Flukkard Nataks- 5 nos.
  • 11 nos. of Co-ordination meeting conducted.
  • One big project work is going on for safe water supply at Topot Juri Akakhiganga. Expected to be completed in this year.
  • One big water supply project proposed by PHED at Lutumari NC.
  • 34 Ring well proposed to be established at Lutumari NC till new project Complete as short time measure.
  • Shallow Ring Well are constructed at 73 Villages, 251 Fluoride removal filters are supplied.
  • From the school survey confirmed dental fluorosis found 9.09% in Nagaon, 3.30% in Kamrup(R) & 7.30% in Karbi-Anglong district.
  • In community survey confirmed dental fluorosis found 1.03% in Nagoan, 2.72% Kamrup(R) & 4.3% Karbi-Anglong district.
  • In community survey confirmed skeletal fluorosis found 0.83% in Nagaon and 0.5% Karbi-Anglong district.
  • Vitamin & Minerals has supplemented for 13259 nos. of victims
  • Water sample tested 296 nos. where above 1ppm 74 nos., Urine sample tested 2395 nos. where above limit found 42.93%.
  • In Nagoan 117 nos. of S.F. victim are given disability certificate in 2014

Coordination with the PHED

Nagaon District:
1. One big project work is going on for safe water supply at Topot Juri Akakhiganga. Expected to be completed in this year.
2. One big water supply project proposed by PHED at Lutumari NC.
3. 34 Ring well proposed to be established at Lutumari NC till new project Complete as short time measure.

Karbi-Anglong District: Shallow Ring Well are constructed at 73 Villages, 251 Fluoride removal filters are supplied.
