    The Govt. Ayurvedic College, Guwahati – 14 is the pioneer institute of Indian system of medicine, in the entire North East India. It was established in the year 1948. The college is situated at Jalukbari, Guwahati in the foot hill of Nilachal Hill near the south bank of the river Brahmaputra. Previously the College was affiliated by Gauhati University and still the old batches of students have been continuing their course under this University.After establishment of Health University in the state, the teaching, research and examination etc. of the College have been brought under Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences, Assam in the year 2010.

    There are 14 departments vide Govt. notification number No.HLB.222/2003/123 dated the 2nd April’2008 as per CCIM norms. They are-

    4. Sanskrit, Samhita and Siddhanta
    5. Prasuti Tantra & Striroga
    6. Kaumarbhritya
    7. Pancakarma
    8. Swasthavritta
    9. Dravyaguna (Pharmacology & Materia Medica)
    10. Rasashastra & Bhaisajya Kalpana (Rejuvenative & Pharmaceutical Science)
    11. Agada tantra & Vidhi Shastra (Toxicology, forensic medicine and medical Jurisprudence)
    12. Roga Nidan & Vikriti Vigyan
    13. Rachana Sarir (Anatomy)
    14. Kriya Sarir (Physiology)

    Presently there are 36 nos. of faculty members in 14 (fourteen) departments but many departments are suffering from shortage of higher and lower faculties as per the CCIM norms, though some medical officers are attached as teachers in different departments but due the regular posts are still lying vacant due to various reasons

    SERVICES OF THE HOSPITAL :

    1. Total Bed strength : 200 bed.
    2. OPD,IPD, Casualty, Panchakarma services are available in concern departments.
    3. Pathological Laboratory service available for OPD hour only. To be upgraded to 24X7 patient service.
    4. X-ray, USG, ECG services are available in OPD hour only. To be upgraded to 24X7 patient service.
    5. OT services of Surgery, Prasuti & Stree Roga, Eye OT is available.
    6. Daily OPD patient attendance average : 180
    7. IPD average daily bed occupancy : 70
    8. Diet service is available in the hospital.
    9. Birth and Death registration unit is present.
    10. NHM unit with all beneficiary programmes are available.
    11. Immunization unit is available.
    12. Medicine dispensing unit and hospital medical store is available.

    2. SJN Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Panjabari.

    This college is at present pusuing BHMS Course and the intake capacity for BHMS course is 50/year.A 25 bedded indoor hospital is also attached with the Hospital.

    ASSAM HOMOEOPATHIC MEDICAL COLLEGE & HOPITAL NAGAON:
