1. A brief Overview:
Babies are born with protection against certain diseases because antibodies from their mothers were passed to them through the placenta. After birth, breastfed babies get the continued benefits of additional antibodies in breast milk. But in both cases, the protection is temporary.
Immunization (vaccination) is a way of creating immunity to certain diseases by using small amounts of a killed or weakened microorganism that causes the particular disease.
Your child can get immunization in your nearest Health Institution or you can contact the ASHA/ANM who will help you in getting your child immunized. Remember, if you want your child to have a healthy life, stick to the immunization schedule and take your child for vaccination as per the dates and months mentioned in the Immunization schedule. Please ensure that your child receives full immunization. During special immunization drive conducted by the Govt of Assam, please ensure that your child receives the benefit of such drives.
